If you're wondering why I hold comments on old posts for moderation, or why I implemented the CAPTCHA, look no further than the internet sewage that has bespattered this page, representing the spam that has clogged up the comments and put an irritating burden on me as proprietor. Since they're commenting on my blog it's obvious these sites want you to know what I think of them. So, let's discuss.
My most persistent comment spammer to date is theinvestblog.com, who left about one spam comment every other day for about two months at the start of the year. Not content with displaying the typical rudeness, this spammer also wanted for us to know of his (her) contemptible stupidity, leaving comments that are ungrammatical to the point of incomprehensibility and using bbcode rather than HTML, meaning that the links within the spam cannot even be followed from this site. One can only conclude that theinvestblog.com is run by a person of incredibly deficient morals and intellect, untrustworthy and unqualified to offer advice on any matter of consequence.
Like any site that receives spam, I get a good deal of posts concerning online gambling. Prominent spammers include www.realcazinoz.com, freecasinogames2010.webs.com, www.ttittancasino.com, and www.casinolasvegass.com. These sites typically advertise in broken English and useless bbcode. I don't disapprove of gambling per se, although I don't personally gamble. However, visiting any of these sites constitutes a gamble in more ways than one - their spamming behavior suggests they're the sorts of sites that will use the promise of an online poker game as a way to steal your identity and drain your bank account directly without all the trouble of waiting for you to make bad bets. Use these sites at your own considerable risk.
Since I occasionally say things about science, drug discovery, and the like I also get spam from internet "pharmacies" such as pharmashack.com and shoppharm.com. Of course these sites aren't selling drugs to cure diseases, but almost universally advertise their readily available pills for erectile dysfunction and hair loss. Of course, if their main mode of advertising is leaving barely-intelligible comment spam on a blog, their pills are knock-offs at best, poison at worst, and their billing system is probably a barely-disguised identity theft scam. I have similar expectations of weightrapidloss.com, although the acai berries they're trying to sell probably aren't poisonous.
As this is a site that talks a good deal about games and mentions the DS on occasion, I have received a sizable amount of oblique spam about the R4. In principle I don't have anything against the R4, and I don't see anything wrong with running homebrew apps on the DS using it. But I do have something against piracy, and I have strong feelings about people who come to my blog and piss on the rug. If you want an R4, buy it used, and especially do not buy from leetboss.com, which appears to be indirectly at the root of some of my comment spam on this subject.
